Trolls Make Christmas Happen - Masking Techniques

Hello there my friends...
Im on Craftin Desert Divas blog today sharing with you my little projct focusing on "Masking Techniques"

Here is what I made for you

Masking can be intimidated for someone but it can also be therapeutic for others.  If you don't like fussy cutting chances that you may not like masking.  Im talking about masking as using masking paper or post-it tape for background ink blending or creating multiple layers of images as if ones are in front of another.

If you're doing water coloring masking can also be done by using Masking fluid to protect white area before doing your water coloring paint.

For my card today, I used masking paper to create my scene.  You've seen the pretty side after done with all the masking works.  Let's see the ugly side :)

Here are how I prepared my masking card scene.

After I stamped the troll Santa and the sentiment from Holiday Hugs stamp.  I cut my main panel using Crazy Stitched Frame dies and masked of all 4 sides with some washi tape.  I also fussy cut the image from post-it note as well as the masking both positive and negative pieces for the moon.

I used negative mask to cover the sky area in order to ink the moon with distress oxide inks in fossilized amber and wild honey.

I then used the positive masking for the moon to ink up the sky using distress oxide inks in salty ocean, faded jeans and a little bit of distress ink black sooth.

After the background was done, here is the fun part (always) when peeled off the mask and you'll see how it starts to look a little bit prettier :)

I then colored the image with various copic markers as well as used gray markers for the moon craters.  But I made a boo-boo after all the works were done. :(   I put Nuvo drops at the bottom right corner of the inked area but they weren't form round shapes as they used to be.  I have no idea what went wrong.  So I quickly removed them but there was an obvious spot as you can see.  I tried to cover it up with enamel dots but they're not big enough.. :(  so that gave me a chance to color another cutie troll from Holiday Hugs stamp and adhered at the corner there to cover up my boo boo.

Here is how it looks... not so bad right :)

I also added in doodlebug Ladybug Sprinkles Glitter Enamel and used wink of stella and stikles on Santa's hat.

I hope you like it and give this technique a try if you have yet done so...
I Thank you for stopping by today.

Hugs,
Jan
